The stakes

Economy

Two currencies, one rule: what you spend for the game counts. Every spend is written on-chain.

The common pot

85% of the HYPE players spend in the game goes into a common pot. At the end of each season, the pot is redistributed to players in proportion to the points they earned during that season. The other 15% funds the treasury that keeps the game running. Spend HYPE to play, burn sats to earn your share.

How the pot is filled, split and claimed: Seasons and the prize pool.

Hyperion runs on the Elysium testnet during the alpha. HYPE amounts below are testnet values and will be revised before mainnet.

Two currencies

Sats

The in-game currency. You earn it by playing and spend it on crafting, upgrades and potions. Sats stay in the game.

HYPE

The real token of the Elysium chain. You deposit it from your wallet, and spend it on Vault keys. It feeds the season prize pool.

Earning sats

  • Monsters. Each monster pays its own bounty, set by the game. Elites pay three times more. A monster pays again only once it has respawned.
  • Selling to the Merchant. Ore, monster essence and potions can be sold for sats.
  • The Marketplace. Sell items to other players. The buyer pays the price, you receive it minus a 5% fee.
  • Square Defense. Once a day, defend the city square against two waves for a fixed reward.

Burning sats

Sats you spend for the game are destroyed: they leave the economy for good. This is called burning, and it is what earns you season points.

Counts as burned

Crafting tools and keys, upgrading gear, buying from the Merchant, paying to respawn, and the 5% Marketplace fee.

Does not count

Sats paid to another player on the Marketplace. They change hands, they are not destroyed. Only the fee burns.

HYPE

  • Depositing. From your profile, send HYPE from the wallet you play with. It is credited to your in-game balance the next time you enter the game, about a minute after the transaction is final.
  • Non-refundable. A deposit becomes in-game HYPE. It cannot be withdrawn back to your wallet.
  • Shared by your cards. Your HYPE belongs to your wallet profile. Every Runner card you hold draws from the same balance, and only one card plays at a time.
  • What it buys. Vault keys today. More HYPE sinks are coming.
  • Where it goes. 85% of the HYPE spent in the game feeds the common pot, shared between players at the end of the season in proportion to their points. 15% goes to the treasury.

Vault keys

The Iron Vault is free: it is where you learn. Every Vault after it needs its key, consumed when you enter. A key is forged from two gems: the one of the previous tier and the one of its own, so each Vault opens only once you have worked the one before.

Diamond KeyDiamond Vault6 Quartz, 3 Diamond0.09560

A key costs HYPE and sats on purpose: the HYPE feeds the prize pool, the sats earn you points. Buying keys alone, without playing, earns nothing.

Extraction

Inside a Vault, everything you pick up goes into your run bag: sats, ore, essence, crates. It becomes yours only when you extract through a portal. Die, or leave any other way, and the bag is lost. Experience is kept either way.

Seasons and the prize pool

  1. Points. Your points are the sats you burned during the season, added up across all the Runner cards of your wallet.
  2. The pool. 85% of all the HYPE spent in the game during the season goes into the pool. The other 15% goes to the treasury.
  3. The split. The pool is shared in proportion to points. No single wallet can take more than a capped share, and what the cap frees goes back to everyone else. Very small amounts below the minimum payout are not paid.
  4. Claiming. At the end of the season the full payout list is published and the pool is locked in the SeasonDistributor contract. You claim your share there with a proof that your line is in the list, before the claim deadline. The Claim button on your profile is coming.

What is on-chain

Three contracts on Elysium. Anyone can read them on the explorer.

HypeDeposit

Receives HYPE deposits and forwards them to the treasury in the same transaction. It never holds anything.

The journal is written by the game server, a few minutes after each spend, in batches. It cannot be edited or deleted once published. The treasury that receives deposits and funds seasons is held by a hardware wallet, never by the game server.
